Als kleines Dankeschoen fuer unsere tatkraeftige Unterstueztung waehrend Weltjugendtages widmete Papst Bendedikt seine letzte Stunde in Australien den Volunteers. Die Privataudienz fand nach dem Weltjugendtag am 21.07.08 in der Naehe der St. Mary Cathetral in der Domain statt.
Der erste Teil der Veranstalung waren diverse Reden bekannter oder ausergewoehnlichen Personen aus Australian wie Carla Zampatti, Amelia Farrugia, the Delezio family, Stephen Moore, Jared Crouch, Jimmy Little und Dr John Herron.
Der Hoehepunkt der Zeremonie war dann die Ankunft des Papstes im Papamobil und die anschliessende Rede des Papstes an die Volunteers, anbei ein kleiner Ausschnitt aus der Rede:
"It has truly been a week to remember," the pontiff told jubilant volunteers at The Domain. "None of this would have been possible, though, without a great deal of preparation and sheer hard work during the period leading up to World Youth Day. "I want to thank each of you for the generous commitment of time and energy you have made, in order to ensure the smooth running of each of the events we have celebrated together." He went on to say: "We read in the Acts of the Apostles that 'it is more blessed to give than to receive' - but I trust that you will nevertheless have received much from those you have served so generously in the course of our celebrations. To all of you I say a sincere and heartfelt thank you."
Nach der Ansprache des Papstes wurde der World Yout Day Song 2008 "Recieve the power" life von Guy Sebastion und Paulini fuer den Papst und die Volunteers gesungen.
Eine weitere unbeschreibliche und unvergessliche Erfahrung in Australien ging zu Ende und ich bin mir relativ sicher das ich auch den naechsten Weltjugendtag in Madrid im Jahre 2011 besuchen werde...
